One of the standout features of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is its brand-new periscope camera, boasting an impressive 5x optical zoom capability. This new lens, equivalent to 120mm, comes with an innovative tetraprism design, a bright f/2.8 aperture, and 1.12µm pixels behind a 12MP sensor. Notably, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that this periscope sensor will make its way to the smaller iPhone 16 Pro next year, aligning it with the Pro Max model.

According to Kuo, Apple is currently facing production challenges with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, primarily due to the rising production costs and low yield rates associated with the new zoom lens. Interestingly, this zoom lens is exclusively supplied by Largan Precision Co.

The 5x optical zoom periscope camera is undoubtedly a standout feature that positions the iPhone 15 Pro Max as one of the leading smartphones on the market today. Despite facing production challenges, the high demand underscores users’ keen interest in this camera innovation.

With plans to introduce it to the iPhone 16 Pro next year, Apple enthusiasts can look forward to seeing this technology expand further in the future. Stay tuned for more updates on the latest iPhone developments!
