NIKKE Changed NPC Design Because of Plagiarism

In response to feedback from fans, the developers of Goddess of Victory: Nikke have made some adjustments to the design of the melee squad NPC featured in the game’s recent “New Year, New Sword” event. The changes were implemented after similarities or Plagiarism were pointed out between the NIKKE NPC and an original character artwork by the artist neco.

Previously, fans noticed that the in-game sprite of the NPC closely resembled the design of neco’s FALSLANDER Samurai character. Both characters shared the same color scheme, almost identical hairstyle, red string headdress, and wielded a katana, might be a Design Plagiarism by NIKKE.

NECO The Artist Acknowledges Some Parts are Similar NIKKE

Neco, the artist, took to Twitter to express their observations, noting that the “parts composition was almost the same.” Despite suggesting it might be a coincidence, neco acknowledged the series of similar incidents happening one after the other.

Shortly after, the management team of Goddess of Victory: Nikke reached out to neco, apologized, and assured them that they were investigating and addressing the matter. In the latest update, the NPC’s design has changed, featuring an entirely new ponytail hairstyle and the removal of various accessories.

Notably, some fans have also pointed out similarities between Scarlet: Black Shadow, the latest recruitable character in the game, and neco’s FALSLANDER Samurai.

For those unfamiliar with neco, the artist is recognized for their work on Girls’ Frontline and the FALSLANDER series, to which the Samurai character belongs. Good Smile Company is even manufacturing figma figurines for the FALSLANDER series, including characters like Samurai, Lanze Reiter, and Hemet Nethel.
