Epic Games is gearing up for a potential return of its hit game Fortnite to Apple devices following significant changes in how apps are distributed on the iOS App Store in the European Union.

With Apple opening up its mobile operating system to alternative app stores, Epic Games has confirmed plans to launch its own Epic Games Store on iOS later this year, featuring the popular battle royale game.

Apple and Epic Games Controversy Removes Fortnite for iOS Devices

This development holds significance in light of the past dispute between Apple and Epic Games, which led to the removal of Fortnite from the App Store in 2020. The upcoming return of Fortnite to Apple devices hinges on the approval of Epic Games’ proposal by Apple, which now has oversight over third-party app stores.

As the changes introduced under the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) take effect, allowing game streaming apps on iOS, the possibility of Fortnite’s return becomes even more promising. Keep an eye out for further updates as Epic Games works towards bringing Fortnite back to Apple devices in the EU.
