Monkey D. Luffy or Luffy is the main character in the anime and manga series One Piece made by Eichiro Oda.

He is mainly the captain, and is the main character of the Straw Hat Pirates with his awesome but dumb and sometimes comical personality that determine itself to becomes the pirate king.

Luffy was raised in a small village called Foosha in East Blue by his grandfather, Monkey D. Garp, a vice admiral in the Navy, and Curly Dadan, a mountain bandit.

From a young age, Luffy idolized and was inspired by the legendary pirate Shanks, the Red-Haired, who once visited Foosha Village.

Eiichiro Oda’s Insight on Luffy’s Mother in One Piece

Oda provided his insights in the SBS (Shitsumon o Boshu Suru, or “I’ll Take Questions”) column for One Piece volume 78, where he shared his perspective on the theme of “mother” versus “adventure.”

He noted that many of his characters, including Ace, Nami, and Luffy, have mothers who have passed away or are absent. He stated that according to Oda, a Mother is the opposite of adventure.

Who is Luffy’s Mother in One Piece?

Sadly the identity of his mother or Monkey D. Luffy’s Mother hasn’t been revealed yet, and if we know who Oda is, he is bound to keep this information to a secret.

So far, the closest figure to a mother for Luffy is his grandfather’s friend, Dadan. She is the leading figure in raising him and his brothers Ace and Sabo during their arc.

Despite her design, she worry a lot about Luffy even willing to punch Garp just because of Ace and knowing what his death does to Luffy.
