How to Defeat the Molten Monstrosity Boss in DIG Full Walkthrough Guide!
The Molten Monstrosity is one of the toughest bosses in DIG, and defeating it is your ticket to unlocking powerful gear like the Starfire Shovel. 1. Complete the Magma Boots Quest First
Before you can even enter the volcano where the Molten Monstrosity sleeps, you’ll need to finish the Magma Boots questline. Steps:
- Complete all the quest objectives, including defeating 10 bosses.
- Use boss totems (e.g., King Crab via Sea Ferris Horn) to summon and defeat bosses quickly.
- Once complete, return to the NPC on the volcano island to claim your Magma Boots.
Magma Boots Stats:
- +15% Endurance
- +11% Jump Power
- Heatproof (lets you survive the volcano’s lava heat)
2. Enter the Volcano
Once you have the boots, you can enter the Volcano Zone safely without taking burn damage. Drive along the path inside until you reach the Molten Monstrosity’s resting spot. This is where the real challenge begins.
3. How to Wake the Molten Monstrosity
To wake the boss, you’ll need a special item — Blue Moon Horn.
- Location: Tiki Shop
- Cost: 200,000 Coins
- Usage: Equip the horn, approach the sleeping boss, hold
Eto use it.
Do not waste time trying random items like Phoenix Feathers. Only the Blue Moon Horn works.
4. The Fight – Boss Mechanics & Strategy
Once awakened, the Molten Monstrosity starts with a massive 350,000 HP and a 19-minute timer. This fight is not solo-friendly unless you’re heavily geared or have charms for bonus boss damage.
What You’ll Need:
- At least 2 players recommended
- Monarch Totem (Boosts boss damage — essential if you’re underpowered)
- A good DPS setup, dodging skills, and time management
Key Tips:
- Avoid the AoE attacks — some can one-shot you
- Dying wastes time, so stay mobile and use totems wisely
- If you’re low on damage, try to bring charms or stickers that boost boss damage
5. Loot & Rewards
If you succeed, the Molten Monstrosity will drop various items including:
- Alloy (Crafting material)
- Stickers & Ornaments (For your car)
- Unlock access to buy the Starfire Shovel (Costs 600,000)
While the loot isn’t guaranteed to be rare every time, defeating the boss is necessary to purchase the Starfire Shovel — a powerful tool needed for future progression.
6. Aftermath – Upgrading Your Gear
Once the boss is down:
- Head back to Foxtown or your preferred shop hub
- Start saving coins for the Starfire Shovel
- Wait for a Meteor event to grab any final upgrade materials
You’ll also want to customize your car with the ornaments or stickers earned, even if they’re more fun than functional.
Can You Solo the Molten Monstrosity?
Not easily. Unless you’re overpowered or have serious buffs, you’ll need at least one other player and a Monarch Totem to make the 19-minute timer manageable. Even then, expect a challenge.
