The newest mentor update in Roblox Dragon Soul completely changes how progression works. Instead of only grinding forms, raids, and transformations, players can now pledge themselves to mentors that give powerful bonuses, cooldown reductions, faster mastery gains, and even exclusive skills.

This update is especially important for late-game players trying to max forms quickly, farm Time Rifts, or improve Great Ape progression. Some of these mentor buffs are honestly game-changing, especially for players pushing high power levels. Here’s everything you need to know about the new mentor system in Dragon Soul.

How the Mentor System Works

The mentor system lets players complete quests for different characters and eventually pledge loyalty to one mentor. Once you pledge, you gain access to that mentor’s passive bonuses and progression rewards. One important thing to understand is that you can complete quests for multiple mentors, but you only receive active buffs from the mentor you are currently pledged to.

If you unpledge, you lose access to those bonuses. There is also a 24-hour cooldown tied to mentors, which many players are already complaining about because it slows progression heavily. Right now, the cooldown cannot be skipped using Senzu Beans.

All Mentors in Dragon Soul

1. Broly Mentor

Broly is currently one of the strongest mentors in the update, especially for Saiyan players focusing on form mastery and damage scaling. Broly appears on Jungle Island during Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. After interacting with him, players can begin progressing through his reputation levels. His buffs are extremely strong because they increase form mastery gain and improve Broly-based moves. Some rewards include:

  • Increased stats from Super Saiyan forms
  • Faster mastery gain for all forms
  • Cooldown reduction for Broly skills
  • Extra damage on Gigantic Roar and Planet Crusher
  • Unlocking the Unstoppable Rage skill
  • Aura skin customization from mastered forms

At higher reputation levels, Broly gives up to 50% extra mastery gain for forms, which massively reduces the grind for transformations. This mentor is currently considered one of the best overall choices in the game.

2. Xeno Goku Mentor

Xeno Goku is focused almost entirely on Time Rift farming and cooldown reduction. Players who spend most of their time farming rare drops or boss rewards will probably benefit the most from this mentor. Some of the bonuses include:

  • Reduced Time Scroll cooldowns
  • Faster timer access
  • Increased item drop rates from Time Rift bosses
  • Faster farming efficiency overall

This mentor could become extremely valuable for players farming rare sets like Fused Zamasu gear and other high-end equipment.

3. Gohan Mentor

Gohan focuses on Zeni farming and economy boosts. Unlike Broly or Xeno Goku, this mentor is mainly useful for players who constantly spend Zeni on upgrades, transformations, and rerolls. His bonuses include:

  • Increased Zeni earned
  • Cashback on purchases
  • Additional money boosts

While the bonuses are nice, many players may prefer Shenron farming instead since Shenron can already provide massive Zeni boosts quickly. Still, newer players may find Gohan useful early on.

4. Vegeta Mentor

Vegeta is tied heavily to Great Ape progression. He appears on Desert Island and is expected to become one of the easiest mentors to access once fully released. His biggest advantage is helping players unlock Great Ape transformations faster. This mentor may become one of the strongest options once higher Hakari tiers are added into the game.

5. King Kai Mentor

King Kai is designed for Kaioken farming and mastery progression. He stays in the Other World area permanently, making him easier to access than some other mentors. Players grinding Kaioken transformations will likely want this mentor because his buffs speed up mastery farming significantly. For newer players trying to build strong forms quickly, King Kai could easily become the best starter mentor.

Best Mentor to Pick in Dragon Soul

Right now, Broly looks like the strongest overall mentor because of the massive mastery bonuses and combat buffs. Getting extra mastery for every form saves an incredible amount of grinding time later in the game. However, the best mentor still depends on your goals:

  • Pick Broly for form mastery and combat
  • Pick Xeno Goku for Time Rift farming
  • Pick Gohan for Zeni farming
  • Pick Vegeta for Great Ape progression
  • Pick King Kai for Kaioken grinding

Since unpledging costs Zeni and EXP, it’s smart to decide carefully before fully committing to a mentor path.

The mentor update adds a huge new layer of progression to Dragon Soul. Instead of only focusing on stats and gear, players now have long-term mentor paths that can dramatically improve farming speed, mastery gains, and combat strength. Broly currently stands out as the most powerful mentor for most players, but other mentors are still extremely useful depending on your playstyle. Whether you are farming Time Rifts, pushing transformations, or grinding Zeni, this update gives players more ways to grow stronger than ever before.
