VV Ultimatum Schrift Guide: How to Unlock Your Quincy Schrift Fast!
Unlocking your Schrift in VV Ultimatum is one of the longest progression paths available for Quincy players. Unlike some race abilities that unlock after reaching a certain level, the Schrift system is tied directly to your overall progression, special missions, crafting requirements, and several difficult challenges.
If you’re planning to become a powerful Quincy, expect a lengthy grind. Most players won’t unlock their Schrift during their first few hours of gameplay. Instead, you’ll need to progress through multiple regions, complete lieutenant missions, craft the Sanrei Glove, unlock Letzt Stil, and defeat a powerful boss before finally gaining access to your Schrift abilities.
Step 1: Reach Level 20-25 First
Before you can begin the Quincy progression, simply focus on leveling up. When you first spawn as a Quincy, your main objective is to complete quests, defeat enemies, and become familiar with the combat system. Most Quincy weapons are viable, so choose whichever weapon feels comfortable for your playstyle.
The good news is that early-game leveling is fairly fast thanks to the boosted experience rates. Don’t worry about your Schrift during these levels. Simply play normally until you reach around Level 20 to Level 25.
Step 2: Start Quincy Missions Through Your Lieutenant

Once you reach the required level range, you’ll begin receiving notifications about racial progression. Press L to summon your Quincy lieutenant. This NPC will become the center of your entire Schrift journey. Your lieutenant offers various missions with different star ratings:
- 1-Star Missions
- 2-Star Missions
- 3-Star Missions
The stars appear to represent difficulty rather than progression rewards. Because of this, many players choose the fastest and easiest missions available. Some recommended missions include:
- Map Cleaning (Defeat 5 Hollows)
- Complete Missions (PvE)
- Complete Missions (PvE/PvP)
Map Cleaning is usually considered the fastest option since it only requires defeating a few enemies.
Important Mission Cooldown Information
Every lieutenant mission has a cooldown. After completing a task, you’ll need to wait approximately five minutes before accepting another mission. Because of this, efficient players often repeat easy missions rather than choosing difficult objectives that take longer to complete. During the cooldown period, continue leveling, completing story quests, and exploring new areas.
Always Check Your Progress
One mistake many new players make is assuming the game automatically tracks completed lieutenant tasks. Instead, press L and ask for a Progress Report. Your lieutenant will tell you how close you are to finishing your current assignment.
When the mission is complete, the dialogue changes and confirms that the higher-ups are satisfied with your work. Once you see this message, you can move on to the next task. Checking your progress frequently saves a lot of confusion during the grind.
Step 3: Continue Progressing Until Arctic Plains
The Quincy progression is heavily connected to the game’s story. Eventually, your lieutenant missions alone won’t be enough. You’ll need to continue advancing through major areas, including:
- Marsh
- Soul Society Outskirts
- Arctic Plains
Most players reach Arctic Plains around Level 45.
Once you arrive there, the real Quincy progression begins.
Step 4: Obtain the Sanrei Glove Schematic

While progressing in Arctic Plains, your lieutenant will eventually assign a special quest involving the Sanrei Glove. You’ll be instructed to travel back to Wanderer’s Reach and locate an NPC at the tallest tower. Before going there, make sure you have at least:
- 400 Cash
This money is needed to obtain the Sanrei Glove schematic. After speaking with the NPC, you’ll unlock the crafting recipe and begin the next stage of progression. To craft the Sanrei Glove, you’ll need:
- Strange Essence
- Frost Alloy
- Broken Quincy Medallion
The first two are fairly easy to obtain. The third is where most players get stuck.
How to Get Strange Essence
Strange Essence drops from special blue-colored Hollows. You can find them:
- Near the waterfall close to spawn
- Around Arctic Plains
- Near the Air Walk quest area
This is generally the easiest material to collect.
How to Get Frost Alloy
Frost Alloy requires several materials:
- Frost Leavian Shard
- Great Soul Essence
- Spirit Alloy
Frost Leavian Shard
Dropped by Rogue Quincy enemies wearing red outfits and carrying bows. These enemies frequently spawn near the Air Walk tower.
Great Soul Essence
Created by combining:
- 5 Soul Essences
Soul Essences drop from regular Hollow enemies throughout the map.
Spirit Alloy
Spirit Alloy can either be crafted or purchased from merchants in Arctic Town, making it relatively easy to acquire. Once all materials are gathered, craft the Frost Alloy. A useful tip is to store materials in your bank immediately to avoid losing them.
The Hardest Material: Broken Quincy Medallion
This is easily the biggest roadblock in the entire Schrift progression. There are currently two ways to obtain it:
Method 1: Rogue Quincy Commander
A special Rogue Quincy Commander boss can spawn somewhere throughout Arctic Plains. Defeating this boss guarantees a Broken Quincy Medallion drop. Unfortunately, many players report that the commander spawns very rarely, making this method unreliable.
Method 2: Rogue Quincy Archers
Regular Rogue Quincy enemies can also drop the item. However, the drop rate appears extremely low. Many players spend hours farming these enemies without seeing a single medallion drop. Because of this, some players choose to trade with others instead of relying on farming.
Craft the Sanrei Glove
Once all three materials are collected, craft your Sanrei Glove. After equipping it, press L to meditate. Unlike before, pressing L no longer summons your lieutenant. Instead, it activates Quincy meditation. Allow your Reishi or Reiatsu to drain and continue meditating for a few minutes. Afterward, speak to your lieutenant again. If completed correctly, you’ll receive new dialogue and unlock the next stage of Quincy progression.
Unlocking Letzt Stil
After obtaining the Sanrei Glove, continue doing lieutenant missions. Eventually you’ll notice changes while meditating, indicating that your Quincy control has improved. Your lieutenant will begin mentioning stronger enemies and additional training requirements.
Keep completing:
- Lieutenant missions
- Story progression
- Boss fights
- Strong enemy encounters
Eventually you’ll unlock Letzt Stil, the Quincy transformation mode.
This is an important milestone because you cannot obtain your Schrift without it.
Defeat the Shinigami Boss
Near Level 60 and beyond, your lieutenant will eventually assign a special mission. You’ll be tasked with eliminating a powerful Shinigami located in Arctic Plains. This boss serves as the final major combat challenge before unlocking your Schrift. Some tips include:
- Learn attack patterns
- Use Letzt Stil when available
- Practice parries
- Be patient
The fight may take multiple attempts, but once you understand the mechanics, it becomes much easier.
Complete Final Lieutenant Missions
After defeating the Shinigami boss, continue accepting lieutenant assignments. Most players report needing only a few more missions before reaching the final stage. Choose fast objectives whenever possible, such as:
- Menos Grande hunts
- PvE mission completions
- Easy combat objectives
Eventually, your lieutenant will inform you that you have fully mastered your Quincy power. At that moment, your Schrift unlocks.
How to Use Your Schrift
Once unlocked, your Schrift becomes permanently available.
To access your abilities:
- Equip your weapon.
- Hold CTRL.
- Use the displayed Schrift ability.
You no longer need the Sanrei Glove to access your powers or use Letzt Stil. You can also view your Schrift by opening the stat menu and checking the Schrift tab. Different Schrift variants have different rarities and abilities, and you’ll receive several rerolls after unlocking your first one.
Getting a Schrift in VV Ultimatum is a major achievement and one of the longest race progressions currently available in the game. Most players won’t unlock it until around Level 70 after completing dozens of lieutenant missions, farming rare materials, crafting the Sanrei Glove, unlocking Letzt Stil, and defeating the Shinigami boss.
The biggest challenge is usually obtaining the Broken Quincy Medallion, which can take hours of farming depending on your luck. Once you push past that obstacle, the remaining progression becomes much more straightforward. While the grind is long, the reward is worth it, as Schrift abilities significantly increase your Quincy combat potential and unlock some of the strongest skills available in VV Ultimatum.
