Unlocking a pair of Wings is one of the first major cosmetic goals in Ragnarok: The New World. Besides making your character stand out, earning Wings also encourages you to explore the game’s open world and complete various exploration objectives.

The good news is that you don’t need to spend real money to obtain them. By focusing on exploration during your first day, you can unlock the required rewards while also collecting refining materials, equipment, and other valuable resources. Here’s everything you need to know.

What You Need before Getting Your First Wing?

1. Reach Level 38 Before Exploring

Although you can begin exploring as soon as new maps become available, it’s generally better to wait until your character reaches Level 38, which is the typical Day 1 level cap. At this level you’ll have:

  • Better equipment
  • Higher survivability
  • More damage
  • An easier time dealing with aggressive monsters

Since some exploration areas contain high-level enemies, waiting until Level 38 makes the process much smoother.

Every map has its own Exploration Progress. Open your world map and select the Exploration icon to view your current progress, available objectives, and milestone rewards. Completing exploration increases your exploration points, which unlock multiple reward tiers. Rewards commonly include:

  • Wings
  • Equipment
  • Refinement materials
  • Various upgrade resources

Each map offers different rewards, making exploration worthwhile throughout your adventure.

2. Complete Exploration Objectives

Exploration points are earned by finishing various activities scattered across each map. The main objectives include:

  • Opening treasure chests
  • Taking landmark photos
  • Unlocking Kafra teleport services
  • Defeating Elite monsters
  • Defeating Mini Bosses
  • Defeating MVP Bosses

Completing a combination of these objectives will gradually increase your exploration rank and unlock better rewards.

Best Ways to Earn Wings: Explore Mount Mjolnir

Ragnarok: The New World Codes

If your goal is obtaining the free Wings, you’ll need to spend time exploring Mount Mjolnir. The area contains stronger aggressive monsters than beginner maps, so consider bringing a party member if your equipment is still weak. Using the Play Dead skill is also helpful, as it allows you to recover after dangerous encounters without repeatedly returning to town.

1. Open Treasure Chests

Treasure Chests are one of the easiest ways to earn exploration points. While exploring each map, keep an eye on your minimap and search hidden corners for unopened chests. Besides exploration progress, they often contain useful early-game rewards. Since chests don’t require combat, they’re one of the safest objectives to complete first.

2. Take Landmark Photos

Landmark photography is another simple exploration task. Throughout every map you’ll find blue photo circles placed near important landmarks. Simply:

  1. Enter the blue circle.
  2. Open Photo Mode.
  3. Capture the picture.

Each completed landmark grants additional exploration progress.

3. Unlock Kafra Services

As you travel, activate every Kafra Service you discover.

Unlocking these teleport points provides several benefits:

  • Additional exploration points
  • Fast travel between maps
  • New respawn locations after being defeated

Because they’re quick to activate, they’re among the easiest exploration objectives available.

4. Defeat MVP, Mini, and Elite Monsters

Combat objectives provide some of the largest exploration rewards.

  • MVP Bosses MVPs award a significant amount of exploration points. Fortunately, you don’t need to defeat them alone. As long as you contribute at least one successful hit before the boss dies, you’ll receive credit for the kill. For Mount Mjolnir, the MVP is: Mistress! MVP bosses respawn one hour after being defeated.
  • Mini Bosses Mini Bosses respawn every 30 minutes. Since many players actively hunt them, you may need to wait for respawns or compete with other groups.
  • Elite Monsters Elite Monsters respawn much more frequently, roughly every five minutes. Some maps require defeating multiple Elite monsters, making them one of the more time-consuming exploration objectives.

5. Use the Monster Index

If you’re having trouble locating a specific Elite, Mini, or MVP monster, don’t waste time searching randomly. Instead, open the Monster Index and search for the monster’s name. The game will automatically guide your character to the correct map, making it much easier to complete exploration objectives.

6. Prioritize Tier 2 Exploration First

While many players rush toward Tier 4 exploration rewards, reaching those milestones can take considerable time. Instead, focus on unlocking Tier 2 Exploration across every available map first. Tier 2 objectives are generally much easier because many of them don’t require defeating difficult monsters.

More importantly, Tier 2 rewards include valuable enhancement materials such as:

  • Oridecon
  • Elunium

Collecting these resources early allows you to strengthen your equipment much faster than relying solely on drops.

Should You Rush Tier 4?

Tier 4 exploration rewards often include equipment pieces, making them attractive goals for long-term progression.

However, because they require significantly more exploration points, they’re better treated as medium-term objectives rather than something you need to finish on your first day.

Once you’ve secured Tier 2 rewards from several maps, you can gradually return and complete the remaining objectives for higher exploration tiers.

Getting free Wings in Ragnarok: The New World is largely a matter of completing exploration content, especially in Mount Mjolnir. By reaching Level 38 first, opening treasure chests, photographing landmarks, activating Kafra Services, and defeating Elite, Mini, and MVP monsters, you’ll steadily build enough exploration progress to unlock one of the game’s earliest cosmetic rewards.

Even beyond the Wings, exploration is one of the best activities for new players thanks to its generous rewards, including equipment, Oridecon, Elunium, and other valuable upgrade materials that can significantly boost your early-game progression.
