The Cheeto Rod is one of the most unique fishing rods added to Fisch. While it isn’t designed to compete with the strongest endgame rods, it has quickly become a favorite collectible thanks to its humorous design, exclusive quest, and themed visual effects. If you’re looking to add this limited rod to your collection, you’ll first need to complete Carbon’s special quest. This guide walks you through every step required to unlock the Cheeto Rod, including the Bunker Key location, Carbon’s Snack Emergency quest, and the rod’s complete stats.

How to Start the Cheeto Rod Quest

Fisch

Before you can begin the quest, you’ll need to visit a hidden bunker located on Birch Key.

If you’re starting from Evertide Forest, head to the docks and look toward the nearby island on the left. That island is Birch Key.

Once you arrive, you’ll notice there isn’t much on the island except for a locked bunker. Interacting with the bunker displays a message explaining that it requires a key to open.

Reading the nearby note gives you an important clue:

“Gone fishing, left the key with the turtles.”

This hint points you toward your next destination.

Where to Find the Rusted Bunker Key

The clue refers to Terrapin Island, which is shaped like a giant turtle. Some players may remember an old key location near a boat, but that is no longer correct. The Rusted Bunker Key was moved as part of the update. Instead, do the following:

  • Travel to Terrapin Island.
  • Climb onto the turtle’s head.
  • Walk to the edge of the head.
  • Pick up the Rusted Bunker Key.

Once you’ve collected it, return to Birch Key.

How to Enter the Bunker

With the Rusted Bunker Key in your inventory, interact with the locked bunker entrance again. Instead of remaining locked, you’ll automatically be teleported inside, where you’ll meet Carbon, the NPC responsible for the Cheeto Rod quest. Speak with Carbon to begin the mission called Carbon’s Snack Emergency.

Carbon’s Snack Emergency Quest Walkthrough

During the conversation, Carbon explains that he’s been searching for his last bag of chips but believes it somehow clipped through a wall. Your objective is simple:

  • Find 1 Bag of Chips inside the bunker.

At first glance, you might think the chips are sitting on one of the visible shelves. However, that’s a decoy—the chips were relocated with the update.

Bag of Chips Location

The Bag of Chips is hidden inside a secret room behind the bunker wall.

To reach it:

  • Walk toward the hidden section at the back of the bunker.
  • Use Shift Lock (or carefully position your character).
  • Clip through the narrow gap beside the furniture.
  • Enter the hidden room.
  • Pick up the Bag of Chips.

After collecting it, return to Carbon.

How to Unlock the Cheeto Rod

Talk to Carbon once again while carrying the Bag of Chips.

Hand over the item to complete the quest, and Carbon will reward you with the Cheeto Rod.

No additional materials, fish, or currency are required. Once the conversation finishes, the rod is permanently unlocked.

Cheeto Rod Stats

Fisch

The Cheeto Rod is more of a collectible than a competitive fishing rod, but here are its complete stats:

  • Lure Speed: 40%
  • Luck: 15%
  • Control: -0.1
  • Resilience: 5%
  • Maximum Weight: 500 kg

Its in-game description reads:

A cheese puff that spent too long at the bottom of a chip bag. The dust never washes off. The grip is greasy, and snacks occasionally fall from the sky. Carbon swears it’s a collector’s item.

Is the Cheeto Rod Worth Using?

From a gameplay perspective, the Cheeto Rod isn’t intended to replace high-tier rods. Its strengths include:

  • Unique Cheeto-inspired appearance.
  • Exclusive quest reward.
  • Fun UI and themed visual effects.
  • Great collector’s item for long-time Fisch players.

Its drawbacks include:

  • Low overall stats compared to late-game rods.
  • Limited usefulness for farming rare fish.
  • No mastery or exclusive mutation at the time of writing.

If your goal is maximizing fishing efficiency, there are much stronger rods available. However, if you enjoy collecting rare quest rewards, the Cheeto Rod is definitely worth unlocking.

The Cheeto Rod is one of the most entertaining quest rewards in Fisch, offering players a memorable scavenger hunt instead of a simple purchase. From tracking down the Rusted Bunker Key on Terrapin Island to uncovering the hidden Bag of Chips inside Carbon’s bunker, the quest is short but full of personality. While the rod won’t outperform the best fishing equipment in the game, its unique design, humorous theme, and exclusive questline make it a worthwhile addition to any collector’s inventory.
