The Lord of Mysteries classes, also called Pathways, are based heavily on the original web novel and series. Each Pathway gives your character a different set of abilities and plays a specific role during combat and exploration. Some are focused on damage, while others provide healing, crowd control, or useful abilities for dealing with the world.

At launch, there are six Pathways available to choose from. Picking the right one depends on how you want to play, since each class has different strengths and abilities. This guide is still a work in progress, so some details may change as more information about the game becomes available.

What Are Pathways in Lord of Mysteries?

Pathways are essentially the class system in Lord of Mysteries. Your chosen Pathway determines the type of abilities your character can use, as well as the role you are likely to fill in a team. The available classes cover several playstyles, including:

  • DPS
  • Support
  • Healing
  • Crowd Control
  • Exploration
  • Hybrid roles

Some Pathways are designed around a single role, while others can switch between different functions depending on the situation.

Bard

The Bard is one of the more flexible Pathways in Lord of Mysteries. Rather than being locked into one role, Bards can provide damage, support, and defensive utility depending on how they are played.

This makes the Bard a useful choice for players who do not want to focus entirely on one role. Its abilities can help the team while still allowing the Bard to contribute during combat.

Purification

Purification is one of the Bard’s notable abilities. It can remove corruption from objects and areas, allowing players to interact with places or objects that would otherwise be affected by corruption.

The ability can also remove certain debuffs from allies. This gives the Bard a useful support role, especially when the team is dealing with effects that would otherwise make combat more difficult.

Mystery Pryer

The Mystery Pryer specializes in ranged damage and crowd control. This Pathway is a good option for players who prefer staying away from enemies while controlling the battlefield. Instead of relying entirely on close-range attacks, Mystery Pryers can attack from a distance while using their abilities to manage groups of enemies.

Detection

Detection gives the Mystery Pryer strong exploration utility. It allows hidden things in the surrounding area to become visible.

This can include objects such as:

  • Runes
  • Footprints
  • Hidden clues
  • Other concealed elements

Because of this ability, Mystery Pryers can be useful when exploring areas where important information is hidden from normal view.

Apprentice

The Apprentice is a highly mobile DPS Pathway focused on fast attacks and burst damage. Compared with several other classes, Apprentices are much more focused on close-range combat.

Their abilities allow them to quickly move around the world and reach areas that would normally be difficult or impossible to access.

Warp

Warp is one of the most useful abilities available to Apprentices. It allows the player to create a door that can teleport them to another location.

The ability can bypass many normal obstacles, including areas affected by corruption. This makes Warp useful for both exploration and reaching locations that other Pathways may struggle to access.

Blink

Blink gives the Apprentice another way to deal burst damage. It allows the player to quickly attack enemies, making it useful for closing the distance and dealing damage before the enemy has much time to react.

Players who enjoy fast-paced melee combat may find Apprentice to be one of the more enjoyable Pathways.

Spectator

The Spectator is primarily a support and healing Pathway. It is designed for players who prefer helping their team rather than focusing entirely on dealing damage.

Spectators can provide useful support during combat while also having abilities connected to psychological manipulation and exploration. The Pathway also has a distinctive dragon-themed animation that makes it stand out visually.

Psychological Cue

Psychological Cue allows Spectators to use their understanding of people’s minds to influence NPCs.

This can be useful outside of combat because it may allow players to:

  • Persuade NPCs to reveal secrets.
  • Gain access to restricted areas.
  • Discover hidden information.
  • Read memories.
  • Learn details that could help solve objectives.

This makes Spectator more than just a traditional healer. Its abilities can also provide useful advantages during exploration and story-related situations.

Warrior

The Warrior is a melee-focused DPS Pathway. Despite carrying a large sword, Warriors are not primarily designed to act as traditional tanks.

Instead, their main purpose is getting close to enemies and dealing direct physical damage.

Dual Sword Attack

Warriors can use two swords during combat, giving them a strong melee fighting style. Their strength also provides some useful exploration abilities.

For example, Warriors can destroy certain objects that block the player’s path. This can include:

  • Chests that cannot normally be opened.
  • Boulders.
  • Locked gates.
  • Other physical obstacles.

This makes Warrior useful when exploring areas where physical barriers are preventing you from progressing.

Seer

The Seer is a hybrid Pathway that combines ranged DPS, support, and crowd control. It is a flexible choice for players who want to contribute damage without giving up useful utility abilities.

The Seer is particularly interesting because some of its abilities can help players make decisions during exploration and difficult situations.

Divination

Divination allows Seers to use Tarot Cards to help determine the correct choice when dealing with a problem.

This can be useful for situations such as:

  • Puzzles.
  • Choosing between different options.
  • Finding the correct path.
  • Figuring out what to do next.
  • Dealing with uncertain situations.

However, the ability does not simply tell you the correct answer. Instead, the incorrect options are removed or crossed out, allowing you to work out the correct choice yourself.

Marionettizing

Seers also have access to a weaker version of Marionettizing. While they cannot use the full ability in exactly the same way, the similar skill still gives the Pathway additional utility.

This further adds to the Seer’s flexible nature, making it a good option for players who want a combination of combat and support abilities.

Upcoming Classes and Pathways

The developers are also planning to add more Pathways in future updates. These classes are not currently available as playable options, but they are expected to expand the game’s class system.

The known upcoming Pathways include:

  • Monster
  • Assassin
  • Lawyer

More Pathways could potentially be added as the game receives additional updates. Once these classes become playable, their abilities and roles can be added to the class roster.

Which Pathway Should You Choose?

There is no single best Pathway for every player because each class is designed around a different playstyle.

If you prefer flexible gameplay, Bard is a strong choice because it can provide damage, support, and defensive utility. Players who enjoy ranged combat and crowd control may prefer Mystery Pryer.

For fast melee combat and mobility, Apprentice is a better fit. If you enjoy supporting teammates and interacting with NPCs, Spectator provides healing and psychological abilities.

Warrior is a straightforward choice for players who want close-range DPS and physical exploration abilities. Meanwhile, Seer is a good hybrid option for players who want ranged damage, support, crowd control, and useful exploration abilities.

The Pathway system is an important part of Lord of Mysteries because your class affects both combat and exploration. The six available Pathways each offer something different, ranging from the flexible Bard and Seer to the fast-moving Apprentice and melee-focused Warrior.

Mystery Pryer brings ranged damage and detection, while Spectator focuses on healing, support, and psychological abilities. As the game continues to receive updates, additional Pathways such as Monster, Assassin, and Lawyer should give players even more options.

For now, the best choice comes down to your preferred playstyle. Think about whether you want to focus on damage, support, exploration, or a combination of several roles before choosing your Pathway.
