Clash of Critters: 5 Chip Card Tricks Players Are Using
Chip Cards can make a huge difference in Clash of Critters, especially when you understand how to build your strategy around their effects. Some players have discovered interesting ways to combine certain cards with low-level units, resource management, and enemy positioning.
These methods are not traditional cheats or hacks. Instead, they are strategies based on how the Chip Cards currently work. Some of them can feel like loopholes because they allow players to gain a much bigger advantage than they normally would. There have even been reports of Tier 3 players clearing Difficulty 3 and moving into Difficulty 4 by using these strategies effectively. Here are five Chip Card tricks worth watching for.

1. Double Lawnmower
Getting two Lawnmower Chip Cards can be extremely powerful, particularly when you know how to control the enemies moving toward the bottom of the map.
The Lawnmower effect generates six single-use lawnmowers at the bottom of the map. Once triggered, the mowers can instantly kill five non-boss Zobos in front of them. They also deal damage equal to 50% of a boss’s maximum HP, as well as damaging subsequent non-boss Zobos that are hit.
Having two Lawnmowers gives you another activation to work with. If a boss reaches the bottom of the map with full HP, triggering both effects at the right time can potentially destroy it very quickly.
The difficult part is setting everything up correctly. You need to control which enemies reach the lawnmowers and when they trigger.
One strategy is to leave a lane open when a worm is positioned near the top. This allows smaller Zobos to move through the lane and potentially reach the area where the Lawnmower can activate.
However, remember that each mower kills five non-boss Zobos first. If five smaller enemies are in front of the boss, the mower may be used on those targets instead.
Because of this, enemy positioning is very important when trying to get maximum value from two Lawnmowers.
2. Parting Gift
Parting Gift is another Chip Card that can be extremely useful when you get it early enough in the game. The basic strategy is to place three level 1 units on your frontline and allow them to get defeated. You then continue putting more level 1 units into the frontline and letting them fall.
The idea is to keep using cheap units while taking advantage of the Candy generated through Parting Gift. This can help you build up a large amount of Candy that can later be used to upgrade your stronger units.
Getting Parting Gift around Wave 5 is ideal because you have plenty of time to take advantage of the effect. The strategy becomes much harder if you do not get the card until Wave 10 or Wave 15. At that point, you have already progressed far into the game, so there is less time to benefit from repeatedly using low-level units.
If you get Parting Gift early, upgrades that can eventually reach level 8 can also become worth considering. Boss Hunter and Photosynthesis are examples of upgrades that can benefit from being pushed further.
If Parting Gift appears much later, however, spending a large amount of resources to reach level 8 can be risky.
3. Underdog
Underdog changes the normal elemental counter system and can create some interesting team-building options. Its effect means that when your element would normally be countered by the enemy, it is instead considered to be countering that enemy.
For example, Rock normally has an advantage against Lightning. With Underdog, Rock can also gain an advantage against Grass when the conditions are met. This has led some players to build heavily around Rock units. The idea is to use Underdog to gain an additional elemental advantage that would normally not be available.
There is some risk involved, though. First, you need to actually get the Underdog Chip Card. Since Chip Cards are not always guaranteed, you cannot completely rely on this strategy.
It can also be difficult when playing with a teammate because both players may need the right cards to create the strongest combination.
Underdog becomes even more interesting when paired with cards such as Glass Cannon or Boss Killer. Combining additional damage boosts with the elemental advantage can potentially create a very strong setup.
4. Equalizers
Equalizers is another Chip Card that rewards players who prepare for it before the card activates.
The strategy revolves around Jetaris. Instead of immediately upgrading them, players try to get as many Jetaris onto the field as possible while keeping them at a low level.
Ideally, you want to have around 10 Jetaris deployed before Wave 5.
The reason is simple. Equalizers resets all deployed Jetaris to level 4.
So, imagine having 10 Jetaris sitting on the field at level 1. When Equalizers activates, all of them are immediately reset to level 4.
That gives you a major boost without having to individually upgrade every Jetaris.
The trick is resisting the temptation to spend resources on those units too early. If you upgrade them before Equalizers activates, you may not get the same value from the strategy.
This is why getting Equalizers around Wave 5 is particularly useful. The later you receive it, the harder it becomes to keep multiple Jetaris at level 1 while still surviving the incoming waves.
5. Mission Reset
Mission Reset works with a similar low-level Jetaris strategy.
The goal is to deploy as many Jetaris as possible while keeping their levels low. Ideally, you want all 10 Jetaris on the field before Wave 5.
Once Mission Reset activates, your deployed Jetaris are recalled.
This can potentially return a significant amount of the resources you invested into those units.
For example, if each Jetaris costs 100 Candy or Energizers to deploy, putting out 10 of them would cost 1,000 resources.
With Mission Reset, the strategy can potentially return around 2,000 resources based on how the effect works, creating a large resource advantage.
There are still some details that may depend on how the game calculates upgraded units. It is not completely clear whether upgraded Jetaris provide the same return.
Because of that, the safest approach is to keep all of them at a low level until Mission Reset activates.
Once the units are recalled, you can deploy them again and use the returned resources to continue building your team.
Chip Card Rarities
The Chip Cards used in these strategies come from different rarity levels. Knowing their rarity can help you understand which ones may be harder to obtain.
The important cards mentioned in these strategies are:
- Rainbow Chips
- Lawnmower
- Equalizers
- Legendary Chips
- Underdog
- Glass Cannon
- Boss Killer
- Rare Chips
- Parting Gift
- Mission Reset
Glass Cannon and Boss Killer are also useful outside of these specific strategies. If you do not get the more unusual cards, these can still provide strong benefits for a normal run.
Tips for Using These Chip Card Strategies
Getting the right Chip Card is only part of the process. Your preparation before the card appears can determine whether the strategy actually works.
Keep these tips in mind:
- Keep Jetaris at a low level when waiting for Equalizers.
- Try to deploy up to 10 Jetaris before Wave 5.
- Avoid spending all of your Candy too early.
- If you get Parting Gift around Wave 5, take advantage of cheap level 1 units.
- Do not force the Parting Gift strategy if you only receive it during a late wave.
- Build around Rock if you manage to get Underdog.
- Consider combining Underdog with Glass Cannon or Boss Killer.
- Carefully control enemy positioning when using Lawnmower.
- Try to prevent smaller Zobos from wasting the Lawnmower effect before the boss reaches it.
- Save resources when you know a particular Chip Card could benefit from having low-level units available.
Chip Cards can completely change the way you approach a Clash of Critters run. Some cards are useful on their own, while others become much stronger when you prepare your entire team around their effects.
Double Lawnmower can provide huge damage against bosses, Parting Gift can generate extra Candy, and Underdog can create unusual elemental combinations. Meanwhile, Equalizers and Mission Reset reward players who are willing to keep their Jetaris at low levels until the right moment.
The biggest lesson is to pay attention to when you receive a Chip Card. Getting Parting Gift, Equalizers, or Mission Reset around Wave 5 gives you much more time to build around them. If they appear much later, the same strategy can become considerably harder to pull off. These interactions can give you a serious advantage, especially when you understand how to prepare for them before the Chip Card appears.
