Grand Blue Life Skills Guide: Fishing, Mining, Farming, and Cooking

Life Skills are an important part of progression in Grand Blue. Instead of only focusing on combat, players can spend time gathering resources, finding materials, growing plants, and preparing food. These activities can provide useful items, Gold, and other rewards that help with your overall progress.

There are currently four Life Skills available in Grand Blue: Fishing, Mining, Farming, and Cooking. Each one has its own purpose and can be leveled up separately. If you spend enough time working on a skill, you can eventually reach Level 100 and unlock its Rebirth system. Here is everything you need to know about Life Skills in Grand Blue.

What Are Life Skills in Grand Blue?

Life Skills are non-combat activities that allow you to gather and process different resources throughout the world. They give you another way to progress your character while also providing materials and useful items.

Each Life Skill has its own experience level, and all four skills can be upgraded up to Level 100. The amount of EXP you receive depends on the activity you perform. For example, mining a rare ore gives more EXP than breaking a common ore. The four Life Skills are:

  • Mining: Break ores to collect materials and Gold.
  • Fishing: Catch fish and potentially find rare items.
  • Farming: Plant crops and harvest them after they grow.
  • Cooking: Combine ingredients to create food that can provide buffs.

You can work on these skills while exploring the islands and completing other activities in Grand Blue.

Mining

Mining allows you to break ore deposits found around the islands. These deposits can provide different materials and Gold that you can use throughout your progression.

The materials obtained from Mining can be useful for crafting items and improving your equipment. Because of this, Mining is a good Life Skill for players who want to collect resources for upgrades.

Mining also has its own EXP progression. Breaking ores gives you Mining EXP, with rarer ores providing more EXP than common ones. As you continue finding and breaking better ore deposits, you can level up the skill more efficiently.

If you regularly need crafting materials or equipment upgrades, Mining can be one of the more useful Life Skills to work on.

Fishing

Fishing is another Life Skill that focuses on collecting items rather than breaking resources. You need a fishing rod to catch different types of fish throughout the world.

The fish you catch can vary in rarity, and there is also a chance of finding unusual or rare items while fishing. This makes Fishing useful for players who enjoy exploring and collecting different items.

Fishing also has its own EXP level, which can eventually reach Level 100. Catching rarer fish can provide more EXP, allowing experienced players to progress through the Fishing levels more quickly.

Since fishing is not limited to combat progression, it can also be a relaxing way to gather resources while working toward Life Skill milestones.

Farming

Farming allows you to grow plants that can later be harvested. You start by planting crops and then waiting for them to grow before collecting the finished plants.

The harvested crops can become useful ingredients for other parts of the game, especially Cooking. This makes Farming a good skill to combine with Cooking if you want to produce your own food.

Like the other Life Skills, Farming has its own EXP progression and can be leveled up all the way to Level 100.

If you regularly use ingredients for Cooking, investing time into Farming can help you maintain a steady supply of resources instead of relying entirely on other sources.

Cooking

Cooking is the fourth Life Skill in Grand Blue. Unlike Mining and Fishing, Cooking focuses on turning ingredients into finished dishes.

You can use different ingredients collected through activities such as Farming and Fishing to prepare food. These dishes can then be used to feed your character and provide useful buffs.

This makes Cooking particularly useful for players who want additional benefits while exploring or fighting. The ingredients you collect from other Life Skills can become much more valuable once you start using them to create dishes.

Because of this, Life Skills can work together rather than being completely separate systems.

For example:

  • Farming provides plants and crops.
  • Fishing provides fish and potentially other ingredients.
  • Cooking combines ingredients into dishes.
  • Mining provides materials for crafting and gear upgrades.

Life Skill Levels and EXP

Each Life Skill has its own level, and every skill can be trained up to Level 100.

You gain EXP by performing activities related to the specific skill. The amount of EXP you receive is not always the same, as more difficult or valuable activities generally provide better EXP rewards.

For example, Mining a rare ore gives more EXP than Mining a common ore. The same general idea applies to the other Life Skills, where better resources can help you progress more efficiently.

The basic progression works like this:

  • Perform a Life Skill activity.
  • Receive EXP for that activity.
  • Increase the Life Skill level.
  • Unlock more progression through the skill.
  • Continue leveling until you reach Level 100.
  • Rebirth the Life Skill after reaching the maximum level.

What Happens at Level 100?

Reaching Level 100 does not mean you are completely finished with a Life Skill. Instead, you gain access to a special Rebirth system for that skill.

When you Rebirth a Life Skill, its level starts over, but you receive Rebirth Tokens in exchange.

These tokens are important because they can be spent on special Life Skill upgrades that are not available through the normal skill tree.

This gives you a reason to continue leveling a skill even after reaching Level 100. Instead of simply stopping at the maximum level, you can reset the skill and work toward stronger long-term upgrades.

The process can be summarized as:

  • Level a Life Skill from 1 to 100.
  • Reach the maximum level.
  • Rebirth the skill.
  • Receive Rebirth Tokens.
  • Spend the tokens on special upgrades.
  • Level the skill again.

What Are Rebirth Tokens?

Rebirth Tokens are special rewards earned when you Rebirth a Life Skill after reaching Level 100.

Unlike regular Life Skill progression, these tokens are used to purchase upgrades outside of the normal skill tree. This provides another layer of progression for players who want to maximize their Life Skills.

If you are serious about a particular Life Skill, reaching Level 100 and rebirthing it can be an important long-term goal.

The more you work on the system, the more opportunities you have to improve your Life Skill through these additional upgrades.

Life Skill Milestones

Life Skills also have Milestones that provide additional rewards as you progress.

These milestones are separate goals that you can complete while leveling your Life Skills. When you reach a milestone, you can receive rewards such as Gold and Celestial Coins.

This means Life Skills can reward you in several different ways at the same time. You gain EXP from performing activities, collect useful resources, work toward Level 100, and eventually receive Rebirth Tokens and milestone rewards.

Make sure to check your Life Skill milestone progress regularly so you do not miss rewards that you have already unlocked.

Which Life Skill Should You Level First?

There is no single Life Skill that every player needs to prioritize. The best choice depends on what you currently need in Grand Blue.

If you need materials for crafting and gear upgrades, Mining is a good choice. Players who enjoy collecting fish and searching for rare items may prefer Fishing.

If you want a reliable source of crops and ingredients, Farming can be useful. Meanwhile, Cooking becomes more valuable when you have plenty of ingredients available and want food buffs.

You can also work on multiple Life Skills instead of focusing entirely on one. Since each skill provides different resources and rewards, leveling them together can help you build a more complete supply of materials.

Life Skills are an important part of Grand Blue, giving players more things to do outside of combat. The four available skills are Mining, Fishing, Farming, and Cooking, with each one offering different resources and benefits.

Every Life Skill can be leveled up to Level 100 by earning EXP through its related activities. Higher-quality resources can generally provide more EXP, making them useful when you want to level faster. Once a skill reaches Level 100, you can Rebirth it to receive Rebirth Tokens. These tokens can then be used to purchase special upgrades outside the regular Life Skill tree.

On top of that, Life Skill Milestones provide additional Gold and Celestial Coins. Because of these extra rewards, it is worth progressing your Life Skills even if you are mainly focused on combat.
