Mastery Oath The Veil Guide, Melee, Magic & How to Change!

Mastery Oaths are an important part of progressing with legendary weapons in The Veil. Getting a legendary weapon alone is not enough to make full use of it, as you also need to find the right trainer and complete the requirement for that weapon type.

There are several Mastery Oaths available, including Melee and Magic, with other options such as Summoner also being part of the system. Your choice can have a big effect on your build, especially if you are putting together a setup for PvP.

How to Change Mastery Oath

You are not permanently stuck with the first Mastery Oath you choose. If you eventually decide that another type of build fits your character better, you can change your current Mastery Oath.

To do this, you need to find Kharvos, an NPC located inside the Castle. His location also makes the Castle an important place to remember if you regularly explore the area for loot. Kharvos can be found on the second floor of the Castle, toward the back-left side. Speak with him when you want to change your Mastery Oath.

For example, if you originally selected Melee Mastery but later decide that a Magic or Summoner setup would work better, Kharvos is the NPC you need to visit to reset your current mastery and move to another option.

How to Get Melee Mastery Oath

To unlock the Melee Mastery Oath, you need to find Valor, the War Emperor, who is located inside the Coliseum. Your journey can begin from the Merchant, making this NPC a useful starting point for finding the correct route.

From the Merchant, head toward the nearby gate and continue forward. Once you pass through the gate, keep following the right side of the path. Continue along this route until you eventually arrive at the Coliseum where Valor is waiting.

When you find Valor, you need to provide him with a Legendary Melee Weapon. Several weapon types can work for this requirement, including:

  • Dagger
  • Sword
  • Greatsword
  • Trident
  • Other Legendary Melee Weapons

After handing over the required weapon, Valor will give you a quest. You need to deal 25,000 melee damage to complete it. Once you reach the required amount of damage, your character will obtain the Melee Mastery Oath.

How to Get Magic Mastery Oath

The Magic Mastery Oath requires you to find a different trainer. This trainer is located in the Blue Mushroom area, which can be slightly difficult to reach because of the different gates and paths around The Veil.

Once you find the correct gate, follow the route while staying toward the left side. Keep moving through the area until you reach the Blue Mushroom region. The route is relatively straightforward once you know which gate to use, although enemies can appear along the way.

The Magic Mastery trainer is named Thunder. After reaching Thunder, you can begin the process of obtaining the Magic Mastery Oath and progressing with your legendary Magic weapon setup.

The area is also useful because you can visit it at night without constantly losing sanity, making the trip less troublesome compared with some other locations in The Veil.

Mastery Oaths are an important system to understand if you want to get the most from legendary weapons in The Veil. The Melee route requires Valor and 25,000 melee damage, while the Magic route takes you toward Thunder in the Blue Mushroom area.

Your choice does not have to be permanent either. If your build changes later, Kharvos inside the Castle allows you to switch your Mastery Oath. This gives you more freedom to experiment with different classes, weapons, and builds as you progress further into the game.
