Mastery is important in Slayer 2 because it lets you unlock and improve abilities from weapons, Breathing Techniques, and Evil Arts. However, the fastest way to level mastery changes depending on your player level and how strong your build is.
For most players, the best long-term strategy is to reach the player level cap first. Once you reach level 225, several quests that normally provide EXP will instead reward Mastery, giving you a much more efficient way to level your equipment and abilities.
1. Reach Max Player Level First
Before focusing heavily on mastery, work toward the level cap of 225. You can still level your weapon, Breathing Technique, or Evil Art while progressing, especially when unlocking important skills that make combat faster.
The major reason to reach the cap is that Crow and Muzan quests become much more valuable for mastery farming. Once you are at the maximum player level, the EXP from these quests is converted into Mastery rewards, making the same quest rotation useful for continuously leveling your abilities.
2. Unlock Crow and Muzan Quests
Slayers can access their quests through the Crow system, while Demons can return to Muzan using their Bell and accept quests from him. These systems become particularly useful around level 125, when the quest pool starts including world bosses.
Before level 125, you will mostly encounter earlier targets such as trainees. Once boss quests become available, you can earn rewards from both completing the quest and defeating the assigned boss. This makes boss quests useful for progressing toward the level cap before eventually becoming a major mastery farming method.
3. Choose the Right Server
Your server can have a noticeable effect on Crow and Muzan quest rewards. The rewards scale according to the number of high-level players from your own race currently in the server.
If you are a Slayer, look for servers containing other high-level Slayers. Demons should similarly look for servers with high-level Demon players. However, there is an important trade-off because more players also means more competition for available quests.
Before settling on a server, open your quest menu and check the rewards. You want a server with strong rewards while still having enough quests available for you to complete consistently.
If you have access to a private server, you can invite high-level players from your race to help increase the reward scaling. An empty private server does not automatically provide the highest rewards, so check the quest values after everyone has joined.
4. Farm Boss Quests at Max Level
Once you reach level 225 and find a good server, Crow or Muzan boss quests become the main mastery farming method. The basic loop is simple: accept a boss quest, travel to the target, defeat it, turn in the quest, and immediately move toward the next available target.
Use unlocked shrines whenever possible to reduce travel time. The less time you spend moving between bosses, the more time you can spend actually fighting and earning rewards.
You should also consider how quickly you can kill each boss. A boss with a larger reward is not necessarily better if it takes several times longer to defeat. Start with bosses you can kill reliably, then move toward harder targets as your damage increases.
If you are farming with a stronger friend, make sure you actively participate in the fights so you receive the appropriate credit. This can be helpful while your build is still developing.
5. Use Double Mastery Potions Properly
Double Mastery Potions can speed up the grind considerably, but activating one at the wrong time can waste part of its duration. Prepare everything before using the potion.
Find your server, check the available quests, identify the boss locations, and decide your route first. Once everything is ready, activate the potion and begin farming immediately.
If you have not reached level 225 yet, a Double EXP Potion can be more useful for progressing toward the level cap. Save your mastery-focused boosts for a period when you can farm continuously.
6. Farm Dungeon Points for Mastery
Dungeons provide another way to obtain mastery, especially if you have not reached the maximum player level or cannot find a suitable server for boss quests.
You need to reach level 65 and complete the Forge quest before accessing the Dungeon. Once unlocked, open the Hub and select Dungeon mode.
For general farming, Normal difficulty is more forgiving because you have three lives. Ranked Dungeon gives you only one life and is mainly intended for leaderboard competition, so Normal is usually more practical when your goal is simply to collect points.
How Dungeon Mastery Exchange Works
During a Dungeon run, you clear enemy floors, collect points, and select cards that improve your character. Your card choices can determine how far you progress and how many points you ultimately collect.
Early in the run, prioritize enough damage to clear enemies quickly. As enemies become stronger, survival, cooldown reduction, and other useful effects become increasingly important. Once your build is strong enough, you can focus more heavily on point and fortune cards.
The important part is finding a balance. A card that increases your potential rewards is not very useful if your character becomes too weak to survive the next floors.
After finishing the run, your Dungeon Points can be exchanged directly for Mastery. The listed exchange rate is:
- 3,500 Dungeon Points = 1,000 Mastery
- 35,000 Dungeon Points = 10,000 Mastery
You can use this exchange to train different weapons, Breathing Techniques, or Evil Arts. Always double-check which ability you selected before confirming the exchange.
Farm Tier 3 Chest Guards
Players who are not yet strong enough for difficult bosses or Dungeons have another option: enemies guarding Tier 3 chests.
These encounters can be found around the Tundra. Defeating the guards provides Mastery while also giving you access to the chest rewards, making this a useful activity during the middle stages of progression.
The basic method is to find a Tier 3 chest encounter, defeat its guards, collect the rewards, and move on to another available encounter. If the enemies are too difficult to handle alone, bring another player and make sure you participate in the fight so you receive credit.
This method is generally better suited to developing characters. Once you can comfortably complete boss quests, the boss rotation offers a more direct way to focus on mastery farming.
Ranked PvP for Extra Mastery
Ranked PvP is another possible source of Mastery. Winning matches can provide rewards, so players who already enjoy PvP can continue working on their mastery while fighting other players.
However, the efficiency of this method depends heavily on your win rate, match duration, and how quickly you find your next opponent. If your only objective is to reach maximum mastery as quickly as possible, PvP may not provide the same consistency as a strong boss farming route.
Instead, consider ranked PvP as an alternative activity when you want to take a break from PvE grinding without completely stopping your progression.
Fastest Mastery Farming Route
For the most efficient overall progression, focus on increasing your player level while unlocking useful combat skills along the way. Your goal should be to build enough damage that you can clear enemies and bosses without wasting too much time.
A practical progression route looks like this:
- Level 65+: Unlock Dungeons after completing the Forge quest.
- Level 65–125: Use Dungeons and other available content to gain EXP and Mastery.
- Level 125+: Start taking Crow or Muzan quests that target world bosses.
- Level 125–225: Continue leveling while improving your weapon, gear, and abilities.
- Level 225: Focus heavily on Crow or Muzan boss quests for Mastery.
- Use a server with strong quest rewards and manageable competition.
- Plan your boss route to reduce travel time.
- Use shrines to move around the map faster.
- Activate Double Mastery Potions only after your farming setup is ready.
- Use Tier 3 chest guards as an alternative while your build is still developing.
- Exchange Dungeon Points for Mastery when you need to train a specific ability.
The key to fast mastery in Slayer 2 is not simply finding the strongest enemy and repeatedly defeating it. Your player level, server population, quest rewards, travel time, damage, and available boosts all affect how efficiently you can progress.
Dungeons and Tier 3 chest guards are useful during earlier progression, while Crow or Muzan boss quests become the main option once you have reached the higher levels and eventually the level cap. Build your character first, prepare your farming route, and then use Mastery boosts when you can spend their full duration fighting.
