Fishing in Slayers 2 is more than just a side activity, especially once you unlock the special fishing puzzle tied to the Legendary Fishing Rod. Completing the puzzle rewards you with three useful items: the Legendary Fishing Rod, an unlimited Drowned Lure, and the Legendary Fisherman title.

How to Unlock Fishing in Slayers 2

Before starting the Legendary Fishing Rod puzzle, you need access to the fishing system. If you’ve already obtained the basic fishing rod, you can skip this section and move directly to the first puzzle location.

If you haven’t unlocked fishing yet, reach Level 45 and travel to Mistfall Docks. Near the shrine, look for the Dockmaster NPC and speak with him to begin the Fishing Permit quest.

Your first objective is to find a Fishing Permit at one of the nearby docks. Follow the route from the Dockmaster’s location, collect the permit, and return it to him to complete the quest.

After finishing the Fishing Permit quest, you’ll be able to purchase the Basic Fishing Rod and start fishing. Make sure you keep this basic rod in your inventory, even if you’ve already obtained a stronger fishing rod.

The Basic Fishing Rod is specifically required for the first part of the Legendary Fishing Rod puzzle. Having a better rod won’t help if the puzzle requires the basic one.

Step 1: Find the Drowned Lure

The first major part of the puzzle is obtaining the Drowned Lure. Start by traveling toward the Red Bridge and look for a water spout nearby.

Across the water from the spout, you’ll find a small rocky ledge along the cliff. This ledge is the hidden fishing location required for the first puzzle step.

You may be able to obtain a clue about this location from the Dockmaster, but purchasing the clue isn’t necessary if you’re following the location described here.

Before you cast your line, make sure all three requirements are met:

• It must be nighttime.
• You must equip the Basic Fishing Rod.
• You must have no bait equipped.

The final requirement is easy to overlook. If you’ve recently been fishing with bait, open your fishing equipment and remove the bait before attempting the puzzle.

Once your setup is correct, fish from the rocky ledge at night and complete five successful catches. Simply casting your line doesn’t count toward the requirement, so you need to finish the fishing minigame and successfully catch something each time.

After your fifth successful catch, you should receive the Drowned Lure. If nothing happens, double-check your location, time, rod, and bait setup before trying again.

What Is the Drowned Lure?

The Drowned Lure is more than just a quest item. It’s a Legendary bait with a 1x bite speed multiplier and a listed 25% catch chance.

Its most useful feature is that it isn’t consumed when you fish with it. This means you can continue using the same Drowned Lure without having to constantly obtain replacements.

You’ll also need this exact lure during the final stage of the Legendary Fishing Rod puzzle. Because of that, don’t accidentally sell or replace it after completing the first step.

Step 2: Find the Ghost Fisherman

Once you’ve obtained the Drowned Lure, your next objective is to find the Ghost Fisherman. Return to the area underneath the Red Bridge and look for him at night.

The Ghost Fisherman only appears during nighttime. If daylight arrives while you’re completing the first stage or traveling toward him, you’ll need to wait until the next night before you can continue.

Speak with the Ghost Fisherman to receive the next task. He’ll ask you to bring him two different types of fish, with two copies of each.

You’ll need four fish in total:

• 2x Craft Along
• 2x Crustadon

Make sure you collect the correct quantities. Having extra copies of one fish won’t substitute for the fish you’re missing.

How to Get the Required Fish

Unlike the first stage, you aren’t restricted to the Basic Fishing Rod or fishing without bait while collecting the required fish. This gives you more freedom to improve your fishing setup and make the process faster.

If you’re still using the Basic Fishing Rod, you can work toward the Rare Fishing Rod. This requires five Golden Fish and gives you a stronger option for catching fish while progressing toward the Legendary Rod.

Using better bait can also improve your fishing sessions. Fish Head is one option because of its Luck benefit, while Golden Tentacle can provide an even stronger setup and can be obtained from chests.

You can also ask another player for assistance. Players can pick up each other’s catches, allowing someone with better fishing equipment to help collect the fish needed for the quest.

If you’re playing with a friend, tell them which fish you still need before starting. This makes it easier to keep track of whether you’re looking for Craft Along, Crustadon, or both.

Return to the Ghost Fisherman

After you’ve collected two Craft Along and two Crustadon, return to the Ghost Fisherman underneath the Red Bridge.

Remember that he needs to be interacted with at night. Make sure all four required fish are still in your inventory before speaking to him.

Once you give him the required fish, he’ll acknowledge that you’ve completed his task and provide the clue needed for the final stage of the puzzle.

Don’t leave the area before finishing this conversation. The Ghost Fisherman’s dialogue is what advances the puzzle and reveals the information needed to find the Legendary Fishing Rod.

Step 3: Find the Legendary Fishing Rod

With the Ghost Fisherman’s clue completed, it’s time to search for the Legendary Fishing Rod. From the Red Bridge area, follow the river downstream.

You need to look for a tree positioned beside a waterfall. Continue following the river and pass the major waterfall sections along the route.

After passing a smaller waterfall, you’ll eventually reach another major waterfall. Look toward the right side of this waterfall for a tree.

Near the tree is a rocky ledge. This is the location where you need to fish for the Legendary Fishing Rod.

Before casting your line, equip the Drowned Lure you received during the first stage. This is an important requirement for the final part of the puzzle.

Simply having the Drowned Lure inside your inventory isn’t enough. It must actually be equipped as your current bait.

How to Trigger the Final Fishing Puzzle

Once the Drowned Lure is equipped, stand on the rocky ledge near the tree and cast your line into the water below.

Complete your first successful catch from the correct location. If everything has been done properly, dialogue should appear on the left side of the screen.

This dialogue confirms that you’ve found the correct fishing location and that the puzzle has recognized your progress.

If the dialogue doesn’t appear, check these requirements again:

• You spoke with the Ghost Fisherman after collecting all four required fish.
• You’re standing on the correct rocky ledge.
• The Drowned Lure is equipped as your bait.
• You’re fishing in the correct location beside the waterfall.

Once the confirmation appears, continue fishing from the same location while keeping the Drowned Lure equipped.

How Long Does It Take to Get the Legendary Rod?

Unlike the first stage, you don’t need to complete a specific number of catches to guarantee the Legendary Fishing Rod.

The rod is obtained through a random fishing chance after you’ve correctly activated the puzzle. You could get it after only a few catches, or you may need considerably more attempts.

Because of this, don’t assume you’ve made a mistake simply because the rod hasn’t appeared yet. If the confirmation dialogue appeared and you’re using the Drowned Lure at the correct location, continue fishing.

The important thing is completing the puzzle requirements before beginning the grind. Once the puzzle has been activated, the remaining part is simply a matter of continuing to fish until the Legendary Rod is obtained.

Legendary Fishing Rod Stats

The Legendary Fishing Rod isn’t just another upgrade for normal fishing. It also introduces the ability to catch equipment, giving it a unique purpose compared with regular fishing rods.

Its listed stats include:

• 3x Bite Speed multiplier
• +60 Cast Radius
• 95% Catch Chance
• +0.5 Fish Luck
• Catch Tier: Items

The 3x Bite Speed multiplier reduces the time you spend waiting for fish to bite. Meanwhile, the +60 Cast Radius allows your line to reach farther when casting.

The most interesting feature is its Items catch tier. This allows the Legendary Fishing Rod to pull equipment from fishing spots rather than being limited to ordinary fish.

What Equipment Can You Fish Up?

After obtaining the Legendary Fishing Rod, you can use it to hunt for various pieces of equipment. Some of the available rewards include:

You can check the Archive to view the available equipment and inspect their individual stats. This gives you an idea of which fishing rewards you may want to target.

However, don’t confuse the rod’s 95% Catch Chance with a 95% chance of obtaining equipment. The stat doesn’t mean nearly every cast will give you an equipment item.

You’ll still need to spend time fishing and relying on the available drop chances to obtain the specific equipment you want.

How to Get the Legendary Fisherman Title

Completing the fishing puzzle also rewards you with the Legendary Fisherman title. This is the third major reward alongside the Legendary Fishing Rod and Drowned Lure.

The title provides several bonuses that are particularly useful when you’re continuing to fish:

• 1.05x Bite Speed
• 1.06x Breath Duration

These bonuses translate to 7% additional fishing luck, 5% additional bite speed, and 6% longer breath duration.
