Cyanogen is Dead!
Cyanogen is Dead!

CyanogenMod is a custom version of the Android operating system. It’s here to offer a ‘better’ version than Google can provide, with more features and more control for the hardcore user. It may sound a lot like one of those custom interfaces you get with phones like the Samsung Galaxy S6.
It is free and is built by the community. That is why it is free, but lately the company that is working on the OS is having a rough time, and is at its peaks at December 23rd when the Co-Founder announced that the Company is shutting itself down.
“As part of the ongoing consolidation of Cyanogen, all services and Cyanogen-supported nightly builds will be discontinued no later than 12/31/16. The open source project and source code will remain available for anyone who wants to build CyanogenMod personally.”
This means that the OS will not be updated, but don’t worry that the previous version of the OS and source code will still remain for anyone that wants to build or use the CyanogenMod.
