In a recent announcement, Archosaur, the developer behind Avatar: Reckoning, has decided to cancel the much-anticipated mobile-exclusive MMO due to what they call “strategic adjustments.” This decision comes after a turbulent development journey that began in 2022, initially with Tencent-owned publisher Level Infinite on board.

Earlier this year, Archosaur broke away from the Level Infinite deal, opting for self-publishing and offering refunds to players who participated in the Philippines-limited Closed Beta Test (CBT). Despite this shift, there was still hope for the game’s launch in some capacity during the first half of the year.

The recent corporate update on Archosaur’s site, however, dashes hopes for the game’s future. The company and its group have informed shareholders about terminating the launch plan for Avatar: Reckoning, citing the decision as a result of careful consideration amid strategic adjustments to the company’s products and operations.

Despite this setback, it may not necessarily indicate tough times ahead for Archosaur. The company has recently initiated a share repurchase, aiming to reclaim an additional 10% of public shares, highlighting their confidence in the company’s overall health. Dragon Raja, one of their well-known titles, boasts nearly 17 million downloads outside of China, according to AppMagic data, signaling positive prospects for the company.

As for Avatar: Reckoning, if you were among the fortunate few to experience the game, it appears there won’t be another chance. With no expectations of another CBT and the project now seemingly abandoned, the game can be considered, for all intents and purposes, dead. For full information, you can see this!
