Diablo Immortal was recently found to be requesting Superuser access for those who have a rooted android phone. This information is known to have come from @HasNaXX in one of his post threads on Reddit, where when he downloaded the Diablo Immortal game on the Google Play Store, he found that the game developed to Blizzard entertainment requested Superuser access on his smartphone.

Confused, and panicked by the game he really wanted to play, HasNaXX then asked other Redditors to explain why Diablo Immortal wanted to ask for this access.

@Jay2Kaye explained that many games ask for root access to see if your device is rooted or not, and if you refuse to grant access, it will trigger an anti-cheat mechanism. But even more interesting, when the player grants superuser access to the app and gives it the ability to do anything, nothing happens. Jay2Kaye himself said that he had reported this to the playstore and advised all players who had the same problem to report it.

Finally, he added that a 4chan user said that they had reported this on the official Blizzard Entertainment forum, but it was immediately deleted without any notification.

Some people say that this is an anti-cheat feature from Blizzard for the Diablo Immortal game, but what do you think? Is this an ethical move on the part of Blizzard to request superuser access from its players without revealing its purpose?
