nexus 5xThere is a great conversation on Reddit. Following the launch of the new Nexus smartphones about 2 months ago, the Google Nexus team held a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) session.

Here are the group members, David Burke, Hiroshi Lockheimer, Krishna Kumar, and Sandeep Waraich has answered many questions that related to the new Nexus smartphones. Including queries about the new fingerprint security and the missing wireless charging feature.

They also have been talked about, how the team worked on the design of the Nexus smartphones. Also, how they felt when they came across numerous leaks and rumours there.

Starting with the name of the Nexus smartphones. The Google team said that the “X” in the Nexus 5X will represent the core of the NeXus brand. Then, the “P” in Nexus 6P means “Premium”. Now, let’s focus for the Nexus 5X only.

According to the Nexus team, it had decided to ditch Wireless charging support in the Nexus 5X, because the handsets now have support for the USB Type-C which is more convenient due to being reversible.

The Nexus 5X come with a fast charging technology in any case. Furthermore, the implementation of wireless charging on the phone also added to the thickness of the smartphone. (“Thus, ease of plugging in [+] fast charging [+] optimizing for thinness made us double down on Type-C instead of wireless.”)

The Google team also revealed that the USB Type-C port implemented on the Nexus 5X only supports the USB 2.0 specification. The Google team confirmed that the rear cameras on the two smartphones (Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P) were identical, but added that the Nexus 6P has electronic image stabilisation (EIS) ability.

That’s all about the wireless charging conversation, then let’s go to the fingerprint scanner topic.

The Google Team Respond to a question, how has implemented security and encryption for fingerprints read by Nexus Imprint? Then, this is the answer from the Google team, “Fingerprint features are securely encrypted on the Nexus 5X (and 6P), and processed in the secure Trustzone protected the area of memory.”

However, the Google team also said that the Android Marshmallow fingerprint APIs deny apps access to the fingerprint material. Since the fingerprint features do not leave the Nexus 5X (and 6P) and are not shared with anyone else, the users would have to re-enrol their fingerprints while setting up a new smartphone. The last, the Google team did not answer the question, if the fingerprint features would work with an unlocked bootloader and/or root. That is sad, but we must believe that the Google team has a reason won’t answer the question.

Have you ever heard an information that say the Nexus 5X and 6P Fingerprint Scanners are the Best. But, let’s focus only for the Nexus 5X. There is a good fingerprint test from Droid Life, written by Kellex.

He just says that the Nexus 5X fingerprint scanner is the best ever. He has tested, how quick the fingerprint setup on the Nexus 5X. And, finally, he got a great test result. What do you think? Have you ever tested the Nexus 5X fingerprint scanner by yourself?

Furthermore, here we have taken the Video from Droid Life. In this clip, you will not only see a couple of dozens unlocks without a single reader error. But you will also walk through the fingerprint setup process (which happens to be the fastest in the business).

The most smartphones with fingerprint scanners ask you to repeatedly tap and adjust on the scanner more times while learning your fingerprint. But, with the Google’s readers, you will only have to tap six times, and it learns your finger perfectly (on the Nexus 5X).

Well, let’s watch the video first, then we can take some conclusion about the Nexus 5X fingerprint scanner performance. Here is the video, and thanks for the video from Droid Life.

Finally, from the video, we have got a good reason to say that the Nexus 5X fingerprint scanner is the best. If you have some problem about this feature, there must be a problem with the software or hardware. You can contact the Google Customer case immediately.

Well, that is all about the Nexus 5X Wireless Charging and Fingerprint Scanner. Hopefully, this can help you guys. Please let us know your opinion from the comment. Thank you for coming up there.

Thanks to Google for the Nexus 5X images there.
